St. John’s Central College is located in Sawmill St., in the heart of Cork City on a campus that has a long and varied historic tradition in the field of education.
By 2003 the College was catering to the needs of over 1100 full time adult students. As the existing buildings were unsuitable to provide the facilities that were required for an expanding Post Leaving Certificate College, a new building, with state of the art facilities, was designed by Reddy O'Riordan Staehli Architects to compliment the listed buildings on the site that were to be retained. An unusual feature is the copper cladding on the walls and roof of the common areas such as the canteen and library. This new building will allow for the continued development of further education courses at St. John's Central College and provides the College with the most up to date facilities to offer a wide range of Further Education opportunities, working from a strong base of creative, vocational and work oriented courses, with a commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and training, responding to Local, National and European needs.
