Cork Local Drugs Taskforce

The Cork Local Drugs Taskforce was formed in 1997 with a brief to develop a strategic, locally based response to the drug problem in Cork.

The key objectives of the Projects are to reduce the numbers of people turning to drugs in the first instance through comprehensive education and prevention programmes: to provide appropriate treatment and aftercare to those who are dependent on drugs: to have appropriate mechanisms in place at national and local level aimed at reducing the supply of illicit drugs and to ensure an appropriate level of accurate and timely information is available to inform the response to the problem.

To date there are 31 Projects funded through the local Drugs Taskforce with 5 channelled through City of Cork VEC.
