The purpose of the Certified Upskilling Programme is to provide flexible learning options for people who have recently become unemployed and who wish to update their current skills or develop skills in new areas.
The objective is to provide participants with the opportunity to achieve a FETAC Level 5 or Level 6 award on the National Framework of Qualifications in fields such as Computing and Information Technology, Multimedia and Design, Science and Applied Sciences, Business and Management, and the Built Environment.
Participants will be able to select one or more component modules (subjects) in the area of study chosen and each of these modules will comprise approximately 40-60 hours tuition.
Delivery will be divided into two ten week sessions, autumn/winter and spring, with modules scheduled over ten or twenty weeks, depending on content and learner readiness.
The modules will be delivered at City of Cork VECpremises and will generally be scheduled in the afternoons and evenings.
An important consideration is that there are no costs to eligible participants for these modules. The Department of Social Protection will confirm eligibility, but people currently receiving Jobseekers Benefit or Jobseekers Allowance will qualify for these courses.
Further information on subject choices and an on-line application form will be available shortly on this website.
A FETAC Statement of Results along with a letter outlining the appeals procedure have been posted out to all participants who completed a module/modules in the Certified Upskilling Programme.
Once the appeals process has ended in mid-September, FETAC certificates will be sent to the City of Cork VEC and then posted out to you. You should expect to receive your certificate by the end of September.
All correspondence will go to the address provided by you at the time of application. If your address has changed, you will need to notify Neil Creedon in writing only to St John's Central College, Sawmill Street or by email to ncreedon@stjohnscollege.ie
